The Membership and Board of Governors at Black Hall strongly support an active junior golf program. The purpose is to encourage young individuals to be introduced to golf and all the wonderful things that come with playing the game.
Members sponsor the participants in this program. Enrollment is limited with priority given to members' children, then to relatives of members and finally to acquaintances.
The program will include demonstration, instruction, and practice of the basic skills of golf. There will also be emphasis on the rules of golf and etiquette with friendly competition mixed in. Children are grouped according to age and ability. The competition throughout the different age groups helps prepare junior golfers for the PGA Junior League. Black Hall and Old Lyme Country Club have a team of Junior golfers up to 13 years of age that competes with other teams from local clubs in the PGA Junior League. The PGA Junior League, which concludes at the end of July, is designed for those who would like to experience the early stages of the competitive side of golf. Black Hall will also have a team for a new local Junior League created for those 13 to 17 which will play at area clubs against other teams in a fun format. Contact Brian Quilter in the Pro Shop for more information.
